“Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it’s the only way you can do anything really good.” William Faulkner

This weekend — April 25-27, I’m speaking at the Pikes Peak Writers Conference in Colorado Springs. If you’re attending this terrific conference, be sure to find me and say hello. I’m giving three workshops, participating in the booksigning, and hosting a table at each meal. I’d love to meet you!

Digital publisher Lyrical Press, now an imprint of Kensington Publishing, is actively seeking submissions. Editor Corinne DeMaagd is especially interested in stories that present a new twist on classic fairy tales — novels to novella length, sweet to erotic, any time period — she’s open to all possiblities. She’s also looking for sexy fantasy novels, 80,000 words and up. Also on her wish list — young adult and new adult novels along the lines of the movies produced by John Hughes. Get all the details here.

Simon451, the new science fiction imprint from Simon and Schuster, has reopened to unsolicited (unagented) submissions of science fiction and fantasy manuscripts. Simon 451 will launch this summer, publishing novel-length, commercial fiction. Send your synopsis and the first 50 pages of the manuscript. They promise to reply within two months. Get the details here.

The View From Here and The Mountain Between Us are now available as audiobooks. Click the links to go to the books’ listings on Audible.com and listen to samples, or snag your own copy. I listen to audiobooks while driving, exercising or doing housework. It’s a great way to get in more reading.

Level Best Books is seeking submissions for its 2014 anthology, Best New England Crime Stories 2015: Rogue Wave. The editors are open to mystery, thriller, suspense, caper and horror stories by writers from Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts only. Stories should be no more than 5,000 words. Find all the details here.
